Bringing Value by @kathryneggins

How much value do you really bring to the table?

Do you believe you bring enough or do you believe you have to over deliver for others to see your value?

I had an interesting conversation recently with a colleague regarding an enquiry we had for a private yoga retreat we are hosting…

The person enquiring was looking for a meditation retreat but couldn’t find one during the time he had available, so he wanted to book our yoga retreat instead…

I suggested incorporating more meditation into the classes and having less yoga…

And then the question came up about value…

Would our client feel they were receiving enough value?

My belief is that yes, they would because we would be providing the service they wanted…

My colleague wasn’t too sure because of their belief that they wouldn’t be doing enough when it was a yoga retreat…

My belief is less is more…

I used to believe you have to work hard and pack as much into the allocated time as possible…

But one day I looked at my cat…

We almost lost her a few months back when she broke her leg in an altercation with another animal…

She lost her leg but thankfully, we still have her…

I looked at her as she just lay there, doing nothing more than being a cat and I thought about how much value she brings to my life…

She doesn’t have to do anything except be herself…

She brings value to my life even when she’s sleeping!

It made me realise that by living fully in my truth, I can’t help but bring value to the world…

And the same goes for you…

Being yourself and true to who you are brings more value to the world than believing you have to over deliver…

People should be paying you to stand next to you!

But also taking the time to stop and truly SEE another person…

Makes you INVALUABLE…

Listening to them with the intent to listen and without the intent to answer…

Celebrating their achievements…

Knowing their likes and dislikes and giving gifts that reflect who they TRULY are instead of who you THINK they are…

Loving someone or caring about someone isn’t enough…

SHINING THE LIGHT on their soul and who they are brings value to their table…

It’s easy with family to simply ask, ‘How was your day?’ and only scratch the surface…

It’s easy with people to ask, ‘How are you?’ and then zone out…

It’s easy with clients to ask them what they want but comprehending it via your own perspective…

It’s easy to not really listen at all…

But when you focus on another person, you hear them and you TRULY see their soul…

You will bring more value to their life than you could ever imagine.
